History

Hacettepe University Institute of Educational Sciences was established with the Annex of the Council of Ministers Decision dated 01.02.2010 and numbered 2010/103 made in accordance with Article 9 of the Law No. 2809 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions. The transfer of the Departments of Primary Education, Secondary Science and Mathematics Education, Foreign Languages Education, Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Education and Educational Sciences within the Institutes of Social Sciences and Natural Sciences to the Institute of Educational Sciences was submitted to the Higher Education Council with a positive opinion at the session of Hacettepe University Senate dated 11.07.2012 and numbered 17, and at the General Assembly Meeting of Higher Education dated 09.08.2012, it was deemed appropriate to transfer these departments to the Institute of Educational Sciences in accordance with Articles 4, 7 and 5e of the Regulation on the Organization and Functioning of Graduate Education and Training Institutes.

Although the administrative structure of the Institute of Educational Sciences at Hacettepe University has a history of about five years, graduate programs in the field of education at our university have a history of 50 years. Graduate programs in the field of education at our university started to be carried out within the Postgraduate Education Faculty (MESEF) since 1967, and in a period of half a century, it has led the establishment of many faculties of education and even universities through its graduates. Today, the Institute of Educational Sciences aims to ensure the transformation and development of higher education institutions, the education system and society through 17 graduate programs in six main disciplines with the strength of its roots dating back to MESEF.

Our institute offers graduate education to research assistants from 47 universities within the scope of scientist training agreements. In the last three years, 118 master's and 103 doctoral theses have been successfully completed in our graduate programs. Restructuring graduate programs with a focus on innovation and ensuring that the important problems of society in the field of education are effectively addressed in master's and doctoral theses with transformational research are among the strategic goals of our institute. With the quality education it provides at the graduate level, our institute aims to ensure the highest level of satisfaction of its graduate students, whose number exceeded 1000 in four years, other institutions that it will serve through its graduates, and ultimately the society.
